This wonderful image comes from the Smithsonian museum of African art. In 1776 their lives changed forever. On this pivotal day America signed the declaration of Independence and all 13 colonies were granted freedom from the ruling of Great Britain. Each year this special day is marked as a national holiday with an array of displays such as fireworks, speeches, parties, picnics and parades as well as coming together as a family and being united as a nation.
